A date to Remember…

“…December 7, 1941, a date which will live in infamy…”

We have all heard the quote and we have most likely learned about the attack in school. How many of us really think about it? Today marks the anniversary of this attack on US soil. When this attack occurred, many american lives were lost. Many more were wounded. Still more were affected because due to this attack, our country was forced to declare war on Japan. War with Germany soon followed. World War II was ushered in to our history books…

We have a bit of an inkling of what December 7 must have meant to that generation. After all, we too are a generation who were attacked! September 11, 2001 is another date that can be added to that “date of infamy” that President Roosevelt was talking about. I am sure that there were cries of support and outrage. I am sure that there was a national showing of patriotism and unity! After all, we are all Americans regardless of the generation we belong to!

Because so much time has passed, the number of people who witnessed and survived this attack is growing smaller and smaller. It is my belief that we must never forget, even after all of the survivors are gone. We must never forget the significance of this date. And the big cultural and historic impact it has on us!

We are so very blessed to live in this country and be a benefactor of the sacrifice made by others before us…God bless America and let her Freedom ring!!!
