The Blizzard of 2016

Well, we are finally dug out from the Blizzard.  We got roughly 2 1/2 feet of snow in a day.  My husband and I did go outside one time yesterday, thinking that it might be helpful to shovel at least once before it’s over.  No.  It wasn’t.  I shoveled off the front steps, took about three steps away and turned around and the steps were already covered again.  The wind was fierce.  It just wasn’t worth it, so we came back inside.  Thankfully we did not lose power, so we were warm and comfy and got a chance to just stop.

It’s funny how hard it normally is to just stop.  To take the time to breathe.  To relax and just enjoy being together.  Life is always so busy, and I am always doing what must be done while looking to what I will have to do next.  Today is a little busier, because today we are shoveling ourselves out, but we are going nowhere and doing nothing else.  So two days in a row of just stop.  Amazing.

It’s too bad that it takes a blizzard to make me stop and breathe and take care of me.

We still have to dig out the van. The plows haven’t yet been through today and there’s a 4-foot, packed wall of snow at the end of our driveway. Life goes on.
